Mexico City is the capital of Mexico. It is located at an altitude of 2,240 meters. Therefore, the temperatures are pleasant during the entire year. In Spanish it's called Ciudad de México (CDMX). However, the inhabitants just call it D. F. ( Distrito Federal). This blog post covers the most important sights of Mexico City. In my gallery about Mexico you can find further photos of Mexico. Bellas Artes was the first place I visited in Mexico City. The highlight of Bellas Artes is the building Palacio de Bellas Artes. Inside, there are two museums and a theatre.
There you can see lots of paintings and a model of the Palacio de Bellas Artes.

Alameda Central is the central park in Mexico City. I like it. It's beside Bellas Artes.
At the other end of Alameda Central you can find the Museo Mural Diego Rivera. It contains paintings. One of the paintings is 16 meters long and 4 meters high. The museum has been built with this painting in mind. The fee for this museum is just 35 Pesos which is less than 2 €.
This tower is located beside Bellas Artes. It's 182 meters high and it has 42 floors. It was built in 1958.

On the way from the Torre Latinoamericana to the cathedral you can find the Casa de los Azulejos. This building looks like a palace. Inside, you can find a department store and a restaurant.
The cathedral is located at the Zócalo, the central place in Mexico City. It might be the biggest one of the American continent.
Close to the cathedral you can find the Templo Mayor. This was a ceremonial centre of the Aztecs. I also recommend visiting the corresponding museum. It is called Museo del Templo Mayor.
Opposite to the Templo Mayor you can find the Palacio Nacional. This building is the official residence of the president. It has three floors and contains lots of beautiful paintings. At the entry you must show an identity card. They keep this document during your visit of the building. Therefore, I do not recommend using your passport for that. Instead, you could give them your national ID card. You also must show the contents of your bag. Inside, you will also see various uniformed people with machine guns.
At the Plaza de la República you can find the Monumento a la Revolución.
From the top of this building you have a nice view around the town.
The street Paseo de la Reforma leads from the centre to Chapultepec. In this street you can find the Monumento a la Independencia. This area is also called Zona Rosa. This monument is also called El Angel.
The biggest park of the town is the Bosque de Chapultepec. In this park you can find a castle, the Castillo de Chapultepec. Inside the castle you can see paintings, glass paintings, and nicely decorated rooms.

I visited all three of these museums. If you do not have a lot of time, you should at least visit the Museo Nacional de Antropología. It's the most interesting museum of Mexico City. It explains the history of mankind, the history of Mexico, and the history of Mexico City. Furthermore, it covers archaeology and explains which languages existed and still exist in Mexico. I recommend going there in the morning. In the afternoon you can expect long queues at the ticket desks. The other two museums mainly show paintings and modern art. In Tamayo Arte there also is a restaurant. In the park of Chapultepec you can also see the Danza de los Voladores:
In the North West of Mexico City there are the old and the new Basílica de Guadalupe. The following picture shows the new Basílica de Guadalupe. It was built in 1976.
Coyoacán is like a big village. It's less busy than the centre of Mexico City. In the centre of Coyoacán you can find the Plaza Hidalgo. Furthermore, in Coyoacán you can find the Museo Frida Kahlo.
Beside Coyoacán you can find San Ángel. The central place in San Ángel is the Plaza de San Jacinto.
